Obituary of Margaret E. Von Schmidt

Margaret “Peggy” E. Von Schmidt, age 88, of Waretown and formerly a longtime resident of New Egypt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Peggy was born and raised in Trenton to the late Albert and Erma Tranter and moved to New Egypt in 1963, where she and her husband raised their family. She worked as a soldering technician for Mirco-Air in Allentown for several years and enjoyed her time home raising her six children. Peggy enjoyed traveling, crocheting, reading and spending time at the bay. She was also known for her pink camo hat and cheering on the Eagles, Flyers and Phillies. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed.

 

Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Erma Tranter, her beloved husband Norman K. Von Schmidt, Sr.; her three brothers, Cliff Tranter, Robert Tranter and Albert Tranter; and her grandson David Nixon.

 

She leaves behind her six children, Norman K. Von Schmidt, Jr. and wife Diane of New Egypt, Gary Von Schmidt and wife Vicki of Red Feather Lakes CO, Peggy Vail of Bridgewater, Jeanne Snyder and husband Eric of Waretown, Charlie Kerr and fiancé David of New Egypt and Christine Haines and husband Joseph of Columbus; her sister, Dottie Duncan of Carlisle IA; her 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; other extended family members, dear friends and her adored dog Princess.

 

The families of Norman K. Von Schmidt, Gary Von Schmidt and Christine Haines will be hosting a visitation on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 11AM to 1PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533. The families of Peggy Vail, Jeanne Snyder and Charlie Kerr will be hosting a visitation on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 4PM to 6PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to the Pet Rescue of Mercer, P.O.
