Obituary of Margaret J. Lipscomb

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret Joan Lipscomb (Honey), age 75, of Southampton and formerly of Viera FL, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at home on Monday, June 10, 2019. She grew up in Pomton Lakes and was once a cheerleader at her hometown high school (Go Cardinals!). Margaret was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol. She worked in the City Bank in Paterson, NJ until she had her first child. After that she worked as an assistant to the Tabernacle School System to which she eventually became the Secretary to the Superintendent for Tabernacle Township School District. Margaret retired from that position after over 30 years of service in 2007. She also attended the Tabernacle Church of Christ for over 25 years and was an annual volunteer for over 15 years at Camp Manatawny, which is a Christian-based camp that Margaret held near and dear to her heart.

Margaret and her husband moved to Florida in 2007. She so much enjoyed the sunshine and her daily walks when she was able. Margaret was very active in the last 20 years of her life. She traveled with her husband Dave for 3 months around the perimeter of the United States and nearly every month thereafter in their RV for 2 to 3 days at a time. She and her husband settled in central Florida in a retirement resort community before moving back to New Jersey in October of 2018. While in Florida, they were associated members of The Great Outdoors Church in Titusville. Margaret was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 2006 but never let that stop her from doing what she loved. She enjoyed dancing, Bingo, bowling, Bunco and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mildred Jackson (nee Elston). She leaves behind her husband of over 25 years, David W. Lipscomb of Southampton; her 8 children, Jeff Klein and wife Angela of Springfield MO, Thomas Klein of Pennsauken NJ, Amy Margaret Holmes and husband James of Marlton NJ, Carol Gallerger of Blackwood NJ, Janet Finch of Marlton NJ, Gary Lipscomb of Salt Lake City UT, Rebecca Shears of Delran NJ, and Brian Lipscomb of Mantua NJ; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her sisters Carol Tiemeyer and husband Jack of Benton LA and Sherry Brizell and husband Roger of Hamburg NJ; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life Service at 11AM on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Tabernacle Church of Christ, located at 160 Carranza Road, Tabernacle NJ 08088. Interment will take place at a later date at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to start a Memorial Fund in Margaret’s memory to Camp Manatawny, 33 Camp Road, Douglassville, PA 19518 (please type Margaret Lipscomb Memorial Fund in the memo line). All arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt NJ.
