Obituary of Robert Lee Martin

Robert Lee Martin, age 86, of Vineland passed away Thursday, October 8 at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Vineland. Born in Akron, Ohio, he was a longtime resident of Mount Holly before moving to the Veterans Home several years ago. Bob proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Wars retiring as a Petty Officer First Class (Hospital Corpsman) in 1972 after 20 years of service. After his military retirement he operated a store and gas station in Chesterfield, NJ for many years. Bob enjoyed playing cards and was a Master Bridge Player. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Dorothy (Thorne) Martin and two siblings, James and Virginia. Bob is survived by a son, Joe Martin of Canton, OH; three daughters, Deborah Martin and husband Richard of Cookstown, NJ, Susan Fitz-Maurice of West Liberty, KY and Brenda Morgan and husband Anthony of West Liberty, KY; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; four siblings, Loyll, Lloyd, Leroy and Ruthann and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Bob will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.TilghmanFH.com). Burial with military honors will follow in the BGWCD Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
