Obituary of Marilou P. Rohrer

Please share a memory of Marilou to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marilou Potts Rohrer, age 75, of Jacobstown went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the evening of Thursday, January 14 at RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton Township, encircled by loving words and faces of her family during her departure. Born in Philadelphia, Marilou was a 1963 graduate of Steinert High School in Hamilton Township and a resident of Burlington County since 1973. She worked for Garden State Water Company in Hamilton for many years. However, Marilou’s true calling was caring for people. She was always eager to get to know strangers and to spend time with those she already knew. A faithful friend with a helping spirit, no favor was an inconvenience to Marilou. She was an avid knitter and made sweaters, blankets, baby hats, and the most amazing dish cloths. Generous with her time and care, she touched many lives with her visits, phone calls, texts, emails, and loving words. Her favorite times were spent with family and dear friends, celebrating birthdays or holidays together, serving waffles at her very long kitchen table, or anywhere else her grandchildren were. Marilou loved to be with her family and to serve God as a living testimony through her life and her struggles. Her greatest desire was that her children and grandchildren have a personal relationship with Jesus. She served the Lord throughout her life from establishing the Pioneer Girls program at Bible Baptist Church in Hamilton so her young daughters and nieces could grow closer to God to more recently hosting and leading Bible studies in her home. Marilou spent much of her time caring for others individually. Even in the midst of illness, Marilou cared for her extended family, ensuring that Christmas gifts made it to her grandchildren and little reminders to pay bills made it home via text. Her spirit of endurance and fortitude through the challenges presented to her are a testament to her faith and capacity to love. Marilou was predeceased by her parents, Robert G. and Mary Lou (Shaffer) Potts. She is survived by and missed by her beloved husband of 28 years, William A. “Bill” Rohrer; her dear siblings: Carol Vinch Stevens (Steve), Sandra Quinn Bills (Donald), and Gordon Potts (Donna); her treasured children: Linda Fletcher Pelham (Brett) of Rockville, Maryland; Janet Castle (Bill) of Springfield; Brian Fletcher (Emily) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Allison Krug (David) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Douglas Rohrer (Mary) of Hollywood Hills, California; and her precious grandchildren whom she loved fiercely: Alex, Liam (Sarah), Lincoln, Isaac, Cora, Sevil, Brooklyn, Carissa, Sam, Ben, Izzy, and Henry. Marilou had additional “grandchildren” she lavished with love and attention who are too numerous to name here. As soon as possible, details about services for Marilou will be posted at www.rememberingmarilourohrer.org. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marilou’s name may be made to a charity of your choice.
