Eugene Browne, age 72, of Astoria, NY died Monday, August 1 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Born in Rockchapel, County Cork, Ireland, he moved to New York from Ireland in 1988. Eugene worked as a custodian for Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Jeremiah & Ellen Browne and a sister, Kathleen Hogan. He is survived by his wife, Breda (nee Murphy) Browne; a son, Eugene Browne; five daughters, Eileen Amoroso, Sheila Allen, Maureen DeGroat, Colette Meheski and Bridget Browne; four sons-in-law, Nicholas Amoroso, William Allen, Thomas DeGroat and Joseph Meheski; eleven grandchildren, Rachael, Nicholas, Stephen, Jacob, Joshua, Emma, Julia, Thomas, Kiera, Samantha and Daniel; nine brothers & sisters, Fr. Jim, Dave, Jerh, Mary, Jack, Joe, Rita, Maurice and Bill; many brothers and sisters in law including Vince Hogan and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 9:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ with Father Joseph Farrell, officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours will be on Friday evening, August 5 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com).
