Mt. Laurel ? Chester L. Allen, Jr., age 79, of Mt. Laurel, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at home. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was a graduate of North East High School, he moved to Mt. Laurel in 1980. Chester was a U.S Navy veteran of Korea and Viet Nam. He retired after 30 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed by the N.J. Dept. of Corrections, retiring as a captain. In his spare time he was an avid reader and enjoyed the computer. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Chester and Versie Allen. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Marcia Allen of Mt. Laurel; a son and daughter-in-law, Chester L. Allen III and his wife Shannon of Mt. Laurel; one daughter, Merri Allen of Lumberton; a brother, William Allen of Burlington Twp; two grandchildren, Essence and Tiara. Internment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
