Obituary of Ronald J. Coons

Ronald J. Coons, of Cream Ridge, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012. He was 84. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Jackson for 34 years before settling in Cream Ridge 11 years ago. Ronald was a U.S Navy veteran. He served on the U.S.S. Johnston and the U.S.S. Gainard. Before retiring, Ronald worked as a Lab Tech for John C. Dolph in Hightstown. In 1957, Ronald applied for and was granted a patent by the U.S. Patent Office for a "Man in the Moon Clock". Although his invention did not prove to be materially beneficial, it enabled the creative juices to flow for many years as he would dream up all kinds of products and improvements to existing products.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, Charles L. and Mary (Wright) Coons. He is survived by his wife, Helen Coons of Cream Ridge; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Coons of Fort Worth, Fla., and Robert and Penny Coons of McDough, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Phillip Greene of Millstone; 4 brothers, Charles, James, Wallace and Richard; one sister, Katherine; 4 grandchildren, Brian, Sarah, Cassandra and Ashley; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at the Rose of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road, North Hanover Twp. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, send donations in his memory to the Rose of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church, 45 Chesterfield-Jacobstown Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
