Gladys Elizabeth (Adams) von Schmidt, age 92, of West Windsor, formerly of Hopewell Township passed away Sunday, March 2 at Compassionate Care Hospice Inpatient Unit in Trenton. Born in Trenton, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Elizabeth Adams. A graduate of Trenton Central High School, she retired from the Mercer County Department of Corrections and the Township of Hopewell. It was the little things in life that made her happiest: playing Bingo, a sweet snack, decorating for any given holiday, but most importantly…her family. She loved her family more than anything. Gladys was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Thomas E. von Schmidt, daughter Gloria von Schmidt Gorish and great granddaughter Jamie Brazina. She is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Thomas R. & Eileen von Schmidt and Timothy & Cindy von Schmidt; three daughters, Karen West, Susan Wysocki and Judi Finnegan; a brother, George Adams and two sisters, Zelma Applegate and Alberta Calehuff. Gladys also enjoyed 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Funeral services for Gladys will be held on Friday, March 7 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com), with interment to follow in Harbourton Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Calling hours are Friday morning from 11:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home.
