Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Mohrmann
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Elizabeth Mohrmann, 61 years young, surrendered her physical self, here on earth and her spirit moved on, Wednesday, March 19. Her final battle occurred while hospitalized at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, following another acute illness; she no longer had the physical strength fight. In her own words “It was strong, very, very strong…too strong”
Born at Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ on May 29, 1952 she resided in Riverside NJ, moved to Richmond Va and then moved to North Carolina before moving back to New Jersey in 1962. She attended Pemberton Township High School and then resided at Johnstone Training and Research Center, previously located in Bordentown NJ. After residing at Johnstone for approximately 20 years, she became a resident of Duquesne Group Home, located in Brick NJ. She made many friends during the 20 years at Duquesne and had many happy memories of her time there, but her favorite by far was “Day at the Bay”. MaryBeth (“Sissy”) made the decision it was time to move back with her sister, Jane, her favorite niece Mary Helen, and “the Zoo”, in September of 2012. Her family will be eternally grateful, she made the decision to come “home”.
Mary Beth filled many hearts with joy and laughter during her time on earth. Though her overall condition characterized her as "special" needs, a description of MaryBeth would have to be "uniquely special”. Family, friends and all who came to know her learned important life lessons of love, loyalty, kindness, patience and courage. She endured a lifetime of frequent, many times, life threatening illnesses and never expressed pain or complained. If you were not perceptive enough to know she was not well, you would have never known she felt pain or discomfort. Seldom was she caught up in petty squabbles, gossip, material goods or vanities as so many of us do. We will be forever grateful for those lessons of her thankful gratitude and loyalty to those she befriended. We trust her spirit lives on in all the lives she touched.
MaryBeth is predeceased by her parents Alfred M. Mohrmann and Vera Shearer; survived by her loving niece Mary Helen Mohrmann, Mary Helen’s partner, Lisa Santini, an older sister and advocate, Leila Jane Mohrmann- Jackowski, all of Browns Mills; sister Linda Kohler and her husband John of Lawrenceville GA; two brothers Ed Mohrmann and his wife Lori, of Hillsborough, NC; John Mohrmann of Biddeford, ME and “Slicks” very special friend Joanne Eneix of Browns Mills NJ. A host of nieces, nephews, Aunts and Uncles survive her and remember her dearly. Let’s not forget to mention “the Zoo” as she fondly called the family pets.
On Sunday, April 6, 2014 between the hours of 12 and 2pm, a memorial service will be held at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St. New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com). Her family welcomes all to bear witness to the memory of Marybeth at Tilghman’s and come break bread with us in celebratory luncheon, immediately following, to take place in the Community Room at Pinefields Apartments, 1452 Junction Rd Bldg. 900 (Community Room) Browns Mills NJ.
