Grew up riding around with Uncle John in his Red Ford pickup truck, learning about the world. Whether that was driving to the Columbus auction, to sell a calf and then buy another or going to Kirby’s to grind up some grain to feed the cows. Planting tomatoes and later picking them to sell to Stokes Cannery or later Campbell Soup. Or picking sweet corn and selling it by the road was work but great fun. Children learn by being around, even if you don’t think they are watching, they are and they are learning by the examples set by men like Uncle John.
