Obituary of Pearl Emma Horner
On the afternoon of May 19, 2019, Pearl Emma Horner passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Emma was 88 years old at the time of her passing.
Born on May 1, 1931, to William and Helen Butler, Emma was the oldest of nine children.
Wife of the late Stanley Horner, Emma and her husband were residents of North Hanover Township, New Jersey for the last 62 years. There, she and her husband raised their four children, Pamela Catalfamo (George), predeceased; Melissa Raywood, Bruce Horner (Camille), and Miles Horner. Emma is also survived by her beloved brother and sister, Walter Butler and Margaret (Peg) Reeves, 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Emma was an active member in her local community in her younger years. She and her husband established and operated two successful businesses. Emma shared a love of traveling with her husband Stan and their friends, often recounting amazing stories of their favorite adventures to Alaska, Hawaii, Missouri, Germany, and river boat cruises.
Emma was an avid reader and gardener, however the most joyful and dedicated parts of her life were spending time with her family. You never left her home hungry or thirsty and there was always a seat at her table. She rarely shied away from voicing her opinions and was a formidable opponent in any debate; you could always count on a lively conversation with Emma. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved and by all accounts, a true matriarch.
