Earl Allen Nixon, of Springfield Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the Masonic Village in Burlington, NJ. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret F. Nixon. He will be greatly missed by Margaret and his sons Allen Nixon (Donna) and Jeffrey Nixon. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren JR (Allen), Chris, Danielle, and Ethan, his great-grandchildren Xavier, Liam, and Eastyn and his nephews Wayne and Lester Gaskill. Allen was predeceased by his dear sister, Mae Tilghman.
Allen was born in Vincentown, NJ on September 9, 1936 to Earl and Clara Nixon. He was always involved in the family farm and continued his interest working on the farm at the New Lisbon Developmental Center. He worked at Kirby Bros. in Medford and also drove a school bus for many years. Allen was a very active member of the Vincentown Grange #67 for 68 years. He also belonged to the Central Lodge #44 F&AM, the Scottish Rite, the New Jersey State Society of Auctioneers and the National Auctioneers Association. He was probably best known for his career as an auctioneer. Allen graduated The Reisch American School of Auctioneering in December 1952 and had Nixon Sales Stables in Mt. Holly and then for many decades held auctions at his home. In his retirement years, Allen enjoyed the outdoors tending to his cows and chickens, going for golf cart rides in the evening and visiting the family cabin in Perry County, Pennsylvania.
Funeral services for Allen will be held on Friday, March 19 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 with a Masonic Service also held at 11:00 AM. Calling hours will be from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jacobstown Cemetery on Schoolhouse Road in Jacobstown.
