Richard G. ?Dick? Young, Sr. age 81 of North Hanover Twp. died Monday, Feb. 11 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Allentown, NJ, he was a lifetime area resident. Dick was a retired foreman for Kuhn & Jacobs Tool & Die in Trenton and also was a Crossing Guard for the New Egypt Schools for 12 years. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, having served aboard the USS Missouri and was present when the Peace Treaty with Japan was signed ending the war. Dick was a member of the New Egypt Elks, the VFW and the American Legion Post 455 in New Egypt. Son of the late Harry and Helen (Kish) Young and grandfather of the late Steven Reid; he is survived by his wife, Lillian (nee Schiele) Young; his children, Richard Young, Jr. and wife Darlene of New Egypt, Linda Reid and husband Edward of Allentown, Teresa Nixon and husband Robert of Cream Ridge and Thomas Young and wife Jeannette of New Egypt; seven grandchildren, Patricia Kelley of Florence, Kimberly Reid of Olympia, WA, Danielle Young and Shannon Young both of New Egypt, Scott Reid of Allentown, Robert Nixon, Jr. of Cream Ridge and Zachary Young of New Egypt; two great grandchildren, Stephanie and Mackenzie Kelley of Florence; a brother, Fred Young of Bricktown, NJ; a sister, Betty Johnson of Warnerville, NY and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 15 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt, with Father Joseph Farrell, officiating. Interment will follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening, February 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
