Doris Catherine Shields - Stevens, 90, of Powdersville, South Carolina passed away Monday, November 7th, 2022 in the early morning hours surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New York City, New York to the late Henry W. King and Minnie Irene Smith. Doris is survived by her two daughters; Sr. Eileen Shields of Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey of Iowa, Catherine Kittelstad, (Jason) of Easley, SC; siblings, John P. King (Kathleen) of VA, Monica J. Castner (Leon) of PA, Bruce King (Terrrie) of NY; grandchildren, Cailee R. Hochrine, Tyler J. Hochrine, and Riley S Hochrine all of Powdersville, SC. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Shields; siblings, Phyllis Mathe, Robert "Bobby" King, Henry King, Edward "Eddie" King, and James "Jimmy" King. Doris was an avid reader, loved her years as a military wife exploring and traveling to other places. She enjoyed living in Japan as well as Australia. New Jersey held a special place in her heart as she had the best of friends / neighbors there. She'll be remembered for selflessness and willingness to help anyone. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, was always happy to see them and spend time with them. Doris will be laid to rest next to her husband John J. Shields, in Wrightstown, New Jersey at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 1:30pm.
