Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice J. Broda, 81, of New Egypt, NJ passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at home. Alice was born in 1941 in Trenton, NJ, to August and Helen Schwing (formerly Magyar). She married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Ed Broda, in 1960. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication having impacted the lives of many people over her lifetime. Alice’s own mother passed away when she was very young. This experience would prepare her to play a special role in the lives of so many people over her lifetime - whether as a devoted wife, a loving mother, dedicated extended family member, or in a professional capacity as she helped countless individuals through her efforts with troubled teens at the YWCA in Trenton or later managing group homes for Enable of New Jersey. She spent her retirement years enjoying her personal interests, spending time with her loving husband of 62 years while still contributing in many ways to her family, church and community. She was an active participant in the Altar Rosary Society of her parish. Alice enjoyed doing puzzles and crossword puzzles. She was a very good pinochle player and loved spending time outside in her gazebo observing her pond and wild birds. Alice is predeceased by her parents, August and Helen Schwing; and her three siblings, Helen Seibel, Frank Schwing, and George Schwing. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, Edward S. Broda, Sr. of New Egypt; daughter, Beverly J. D’Onofrio and husband Michael of Chatham; son, Edward S. Broda, Jr. of New Egypt; daughter Nancy E. McCarthy and husband Michael of Hainesport; her seven grandchildren; her two brothers, Jim Schwing and wife Mary of Utah, and Don Schwing and wife Lois of Allentown, N.J. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM for a Memorial Mass at Church of the Assumption located at 28 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown NJ 08562 with burial to follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. The Altar Rosary Society will be saying a rosary in Alice’s honor beginning at 10:30 am in the church for anyone interested.
