Obituary of Andrew J. Babincak

Please share a memory of Andrew to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Andrew John Babincak (July 21, 1934-May 9,2023) Andrew (Andy) died peacefully in the Samaritan Hospice Center at Virtua, Mt. Holly on Tuesday after a bout with Cancer. Andy was born in Trenton and moved to his mother’s family’s farm at age 6 after the loss of his father and both fraternal grandparents. There, he lived out the rest of his life. He grew up loving farming, hunting, trapping and target practicing. Andy was nicknamed “Froggie” by his cousin, Johnny, as a boy, and the name fondly stuck among his male cousins throughout Andy’s life. Andy credited learning to trap from his uncle’s Paul and Andy and small game hunt from his uncle Pat. His fondest memories were of hunting with several of his cousins and target shooting on Sundays with family. He was a supporter of the NRA. As an adult, he worked alongside his Uncle Albert (Pat) tending to the dairy, field crops, and sweet corn; working with his other uncles on their farms along the way. He later leased land to grow sweet corn and turnips. Creativity was Andy’s driving force in life and the mark of his individuality. He was talented with his hands and loved to mechanic, weld, fabricate, and invent. He made furniture and religious crosses with iron and woodworking tools he also fabricated. He once built a working cattle feeder for his uncle from scrap iron and a picture in a farm magazine. He taught several of his younger cousins to weld and turn wrenches. Andy was a dichotomy of a rustic man with a sometimes angry, rough exterior and a gentle soul, creating whimsical yard art and adopting and caring for stray kittens that wondered onto the premises. Pre-deceased by his father, John Andrew Babincak and his loving mother, Helen(Hlubik) Babincak, all but one of his eleven Aunts and Uncles, and several cousins, Andy is also survived by many cousins, several good friends and neighbors who brought him food, provided friendship, and lent him a hand throughout the years. Of special mention is his very treasured friend, Barbara who saw past his eccentricity to become a good friend and conversationalist, who brought Andy food, groceries, clothes, medications, and smiles and laughter in his twilight years. That selfless friendship was treasured by Andy and will be forever appreciated by his cousins. A mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, May 13 th at the Assumption Chapel of Saint Isidore the Farmer Parish, 76 Evergreen Road (New Egypt-Allentown Road), New Egypt, NJ 08533 to celebrate Andy’s life. There will be no other viewing. Andy was not a “flowery” man. Therefore, donations to the church, Samaritan Hospice, or Jacobstown Fire and First Aid in Andy’s memory would be preferred.
