Edward Sikora, age 79, of Dover, New Jersey, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 16, 2023,after an unexpected illness. His family is deeply saddened by his death. Beloved wife/best friend Patricia; his four children and their spouses, Debra (Adam) DePaolo, Kathleen (Mario) Nese, Kevin (Jennifer) Sikora, and Mark Sikora; his grandchildren Alexis (Nate) Herzick, Nicolas and Gianna Nese, Luke and Quinn DePaolo, and Emma Sikora; his great-grandchildren Clayton Herzick; his brother-in-law, Joseph Guerra, as well as many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Bernice Sikora; sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Baron Scerbo. Edward (Ed) was born in Boonton, New Jersey and graduated high school from Morris Catholic. He worked for a year before entering the Air Force in 1964. He was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After leaving the service, Ed continued onto County College of Morris with best friend (since he was 5 years old) William German and finished his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University with a degree in Business. Anyone that knew Ed knew he was a salesperson. He had a way to articulate his words which could convince anyone to give him a deal. Ed owned two delicatessens in his career and worked as a salesperson in several companies including the Rockland Bakery in Rockland County, New York where he retired in 2017. He loved working, meeting new people and travelling the roads to get new accounts. Ed met his wife Patricia (Pat) in high school, but they were just friends. After he returned from the war, he was reunited with Pat at a friend’s party (thank you, Noreen). They were married on June 15, 1969. Ed loved being married. He could spend hours in a car with her. Ed and Pat travelled mostly by car to see the historical sites across United States and ate at establishments that were on the TV show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” He also loved being a father/grandfather/great-grandfather. Whether it was playing hide-n-seek outside or the occasional water-fight in the house, he always made sure he was present. Even the neighborhood kids would knock on the door and ask, “Can Mr. Sikora come out and play?” No matter how busy life became he was always there. Ed had a love for food and passion for cooking. He loved a party, and no one could deny that his parties were fun. There was always plenty of food to eat except for a few mystery dinner parties for close friends and family (only those who attended would understand). Ed loved to give the toast whether at a party or family dinner, he would always say…” A toast to bread because without bread we would not have toast!” Here is a toast to Ed: A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle that no one can deny. He was a friend to all even if you met him just once. Ed will be missed. Until we meet again! A private service will be held for Edward for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans.
