Obituary of William L. Morris, Jr.

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William L. Morris, Jr., age 81, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 21, 2023 after a few years of challenging health issues brought on by aging. He was born in Camden, NJ and raised in Robertsville, NJ. He graduated from Riverview Academy in Neptune, NJ in 1960. Following his graduation, he eagerly joined the United States Air Force working primarily on airplane engine repairs. He was honorably discharged in 1964. Soon after, Bill joined the New Jersey Air National Guard 108th TFW (Tack Fighter Wing) serving from 1966 through 1984 as an “outstanding” Technical Sergeant according to his superior and fellow Guard friends. He very much enjoyed the monthly retiree Guard breakfasts with his Guard buddies as recently as a week or so ago. Special thanks to Leigh Benedict for driving him to and from those when Bill could no longer drive and to Melvin Sylvester for keeping the Guard group together all these years. Bill became an employee of the United States Department of Defense from 1984 through 2009 working as a Quality Assurance Supervisor/Auditor and Team Chief. He served for six months in this capacity as a civilian in Baghdad in 2009, prior to his retirement that same year. During this time he earned many awards, ribbons, and medals for his accomplishments. Bill had a passion for construction, building his own three story house with a pool, by himself, in Jacobstown in 1970. He also extensively renovated and added on to the home in Moorestown. In addition, he had a love of planes, Harley Davidson motorcycles, Corvettes, car racing, and playing golf. He worked hard to acquire these things, owned/operated his own race car and played golf often in his younger years. He met his wife, Lisa, in 1995 and moved to her home in Moorestown, NJ, marrying in 2008. Bill and Lisa enjoyed going out to dinner every night, watching sports, especially golf, tennis and car racing, taking day trips to the shore and other locations of interest and spending much time with their dogs and cats over the years. He could be quite cantankerous, but had a very giving spirit and would help anyone if asked, who needed it. He could be very humorous and enjoyed a good prank. Bill was predeceased by his father, William L. Morris, Sr., his mother Charlesanna M. (Wick) Morris and his brother, Robert C. Morris. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Attix, his beloved dog, Alle and cat, Pippi, brothers-in-law Ross Attix (Gail), Craig Attix and Lee Attix (Sue). Craig providing much support in recent years whenever needed. A service celebrating his life will be held at graveside on Saturday, July 29, 2023, 11:00am at the Bethel Cemetery, 481 Delsea Drive, Sewell, NJ 08080. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, if desired, to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060 in memory of Bill. Arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
