Obituary of James B. Tilghman

James B. Tilghman, age 89, of Bordentown NJ passed away Saturday Jan. 27, 2024 to join his beloved wife Dorothy and daughter Caren.
James was born in Jobstown NJ and was a 1953 graduate of Pemberton High School. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Schweinfurt Germany during the Cold War. He had been an apprentice working closely with his late brother Richard for a year in mortuary science before a career change to night manager for Acme Markets, Morrisville Pa. where he stayed until retirement.
Family was everything to James. He was predeceased by his wife of over 55 years, Dorothy (Nolan) Tilghman and daughter, Caren L. Tilghman, his parents, Charles and Mary (Kinsler) Tilghman, sisters Ann/Paul Collins,Jean/Fred Myers, Mary/Harry Tait, brothers, Richard/Ethel Tilghman and Richard's second wife Mae, C. Robert/Thelma Tilghman, and George Tilghman. Also predeceased by nephews Tom Tait, Norman Myers, Gary Collins, and just recently Doug Tilghman. Predeceased by nieces Wendy Tilghman and just recently Debra Tilghman.
He is survived by his loving daughter, who was his devoted and loving caregiver for years, Cathy A. Tilghman. He is also survived by his nephews Alan/Ruth Tait, Jeff/Diane Collins, Fred/Barbara Myers, Dennis/MaryAnn Tilghman, nieces Susan Tait Robinson, Heidi Tilghman and Kim/Charlie Redford and many great nieces and great nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Florence Nolan Fraczkiewicz, and Nancy Nolan, with many nieces and nephews on his wife's side of the family. Special family friends, Catherine Gutterson, Sharon Katz, Martin Novitsky, Judith Blumenthal, Johanna/Stuart Sheinman, Sandy Zatir, Nati Fantuzzi, and Christine Jamal.
A very special thank you to nieces Heidi Tilghman and Kim Redford for constant visits/calls while in the hospital and to his nephew Dennis Tilghman who completed his final wishes with love and care.
There will be no calling hours or funeral as per Jim's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Red Cross, or the VA.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt.
