Ed was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on July 18, 1950 and grew up in Pompton Lakes. He was the youngest of three children and only son of Corinne (Theriault) McGowan and Edward McGowan, Jr.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Ann, his children, Meghan Mears (Chris), Patrick, Maureen Darley (Tim), Benjamin, stepson James Patrick Baldwin, and his precious grandchildren, Molly and Sean. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Ed is remembered by his beloved sister, Corinne Gleason Baumbach and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Welcoming him into heaven are his mother, father, and sister, Patricia Robinson, and many beloved extended family members and friends.
He was a dedicated family man who always put his loved ones first, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. His guiding presence and unwavering support will be deeply missed.
Ed worked as an attorney for over 30 years at Prudential Property and Casualty and Liberty Mutual Insurance until his retirement in 2016. In retirement, he continued to be an avid reader and walked miles and miles. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ed’s life on Saturday, June 29th at 2pm, to be held at the McGowan residence at 5 Jansen Court, New Egypt, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Penn Memory Center, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Mary Cariola Center, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, all of which were organizations close to Ed’s heart.
Though he is no longer with us, Ed’s legacy of love, kindness, and integrity will continue to inspire all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Rest in peace. We love you and will miss you always.
