Dorothea (nee Peters) Garrett, age 75, longtime resident of New Egypt, formerly of Burlington Twp, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell. She was born on March 15, 1949 to the late Theodore and Dorothea Peters. Dorothea used to be an active breeder and owner of nationally ranked champion dogs and Westminster competitors. She was very proud of her dogs. Later on, Dorothea started judging dog shows. Most recently she went back to showing the Doberman breed. She also had a strong interest in horse racing. Dorothea is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Scott Garrett; and her parents Theodore and Dorothea (nee Framo) Peters. She leaves behind her two children, Matthew Garrett, and Tonia Chvala and her husband Timothy; her three grandchildren, Evelyn Anne and Madelyn Lily Chvala and Sean Patrick Garrett; her brother, Theodore Peter, Jr. and her two nieces, Rebecca Hernandez and Sarah Garcia. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Dorothea on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 7 PM to 8 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. Interment will be held privately at BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery where Dorothea will be laid to rest with beloved husband Walter.
