George E. Novosel, Sr. age 81, of Toms River died Monday, January 26 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Derry Twp., PA he lived in Toms River for the past 5 years and previously Brick for 23 years and Summit, NJ before then. George was a retired mechanic for Allied Chemical in Elizabeth, NJ. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS Wisconsin and the USS Missouri. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 348 in Brick and the Brick Elks No. 2151. George is survived by his wife, Tammy Novosel; two sons, George Novosel, Jr. of Sayreville and Dennis Novosel and wife Rose Marie of Allentown; a daughter, Kimberly Scrofani and husband John of Toms River; a step-daughter, Dori Moretti and husband George of Toms River; a step-son, Robert Schwiegerath, Jr. of Toms River; two brothers, John Novosel and Charles Novosel and wife Ann both of Pennsylvania; a sister, Margaret Grados of Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, Dennis, George III, Jimmy, Melissa, Destiny, Nicholas, Olivia and Alexandra and four great grandchildren, Laci, Luke, Ava and Ty. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 30 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
