John T. Bowers, Sr., age 88, of Columbus died Saturday, February 14 at RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Yardville, he lived in Sykesville for 50+ years before moving to Columbus in 2003. John was a self employed farmer and also drove a school bus for the Northern Burlington Regional School District. He was a member and Elder for the Sykesville Presbyterian Church in Wrightstown and was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau. John was also a member of the NJEA and the North Hanover Township Senior Citizens. John was predeceased by his cousin, Wilbur Bongraver. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Bowers; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Cynthia Bowers of Bordentown; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and John Biedka of Sicklerville; and his cousin, Emily Bongraver of Yardville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 11:30 AM at the Sykesville Presbyterian Church, 657 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 with Rev. William Walker, officiating. Interment will follow in North Crosswicks Cemetery in Crosswicks. Calling hours will be on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at the church.
