Obituary of Raymond R. Helsel

Raymond R. Helsel, age 85, of Cream Ridge died Monday, March 16 at Bartley Health Care in Jackson. Born in Morrisville, PA he was a resident if Cream Ridge for the past 17 years and formerly of Yardville, Jackson and Inverness, FL. Ray was a retired Auditor/Administrator for the State on New Jersey in the Division of Motor Vehicles and the Office of the Attorney General. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Ray was a graduate of Trenton High School Class of 1942 and a graduate of Rider University. He was a member of the Yardville Presbyterian Church, the VFW Post 6590 in Cookstown, the American Legion Post 455 in New Egypt, the Jensens Community Club in Cream Ridge and a former member of the New Egypt Chapter of Deborah. Ray was predeceased by his parents, Raymond L. and Marie Helsel, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Helsel and a brother-in-law, Henry Szczepanski. He is survived by his wife, Irene (nee Szczepanski) Helsel; a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond L. and Cheryl Helsel of Bordentown; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Andrew Dudich of Yardville; two grandchildren, Andrew M. Dudich II and Jared R. Dudich both of Yardville; a brother, Robert Helsel of Surf City, NJ; a brother-in-law, Kazmierz Szczepanski and wife Amelda of Brunswick, ME; a sister-in-law, Mary Szczepanski of Hamilton Twp. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 23 at 10:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with Rev. John Milne, officiating. Burial will follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Sunday evening March 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home with American Legion services at 7:00 PM. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ray's memory may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
