Obituary of Walter Lloyd Johnston

Walter Lloyd Johnston, 76 years of age, died peacefully on April 29, 2009 at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice Center in Mt. Holly with his loving family by his side. He was born in Lawrenceville Township and lived in Trenton and Hamilton Township most of his life. Walter retired from C.V. Hill Refrigeration as a Welder/Maintenance worker in 1995 with more than 37 years of service. He belonged to the ?United Steelworkers of America? Local #5298. He was a Volunteer National Guardsman with the 696th Armored Division, Field Artillery, Lawrenceville, NJ as a young man. Walter enjoyed fishing, boating and flea markets. He enjoyed walking the boardwalk at Seaside Heights and driving to the Jersey Shore. Years ago he also enjoyed CB Radios with his friends and calling # was KOD 2102. He is survived by his daughter Shirley A. Carter and son-in-law Horace D. Carter; two grandsons, Jason Z. Rembowski (Amber) and Scott A. Carter (Jennifer); a granddaughter, Shirley A. Carter; four great grandchildren, Neva J. Rembowski, Covin Z. Rembowski, Kirsten A. Carter and Scott A. Carter, Jr. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Johnston; sisters-in-law, Madeline D. (nee Pone) Zuritis (John) and Laura F. (nee Wozlek) Johnston; a step-son, Harold Francis Jr. and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his friends, Floyd Gaskill and family and the late James (Doc) Henry and family. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Ann (nee Pone) Johnston; his parents, George E. and Alma L. (nee Mahan) Johnston; six siblings, George A. Johnston (Dorothy), Caroline E. Jones (Frederick), Elizabeth W. Gauck (Walter), William E. Johnston, Alma L. Johnston and Mary Jane Alvarado. He was also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, George M. and Catherine (nee Scott) Johnston; his great grandparents, William and Maria (nee Clark) Johnston and Edward and Catherine (nee Collins) Scott. He was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Henry B. and Lena (Caroline) (nee Wenzel) Mahan; his great grandparents, Henry F. and Calista M. (nee Clayton) Mahan and Charles and Elizabeth (nee Armgarth) Wenzel; his great-great grandparents, John M. and Elizabeth (nee Armstrong) Mahan, Azariah and Clarisa (nee Smith) Clayton and Carl and Charlotte Armgarth and his great-great-great grandparents, Henry and Hannah Mahan and Ann Clayton. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Roberta Blake, Mary and Felton Haines, the Clancy Family and ?Team D? of Samaritan Hospice for the loving care and kindness they have given Walter and his family.
