Smith E. Baker, Sr., age 61, of Cream Ridge passed away Friday, December 25, 2009, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton. Born in Talladega, Alabama, he was a long time resident of Cream Ridge, N.J. Smith was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a former police officer in East Windsor Township and was last employed as a carpenter for Union Local #2018. His hobbies were fishing, tennis and spending time with his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Smith and Lucille (Brooks) Baker; 5 Brothers, Allan Bailey, Frank, Joseph, James Carvin and John Allen Baker; 4 sisters, Helen Turner, Thelma Bradford, Ethel Curry and Everee Street; he is survived by his wife, Mary DeCamp of New Egypt, N.J.; One son and daughter-in-law, Smith and Erika Baker of New Egypt, N.J.; 3 D aughters and one son-in-law, Cecilia Baker of Kansas City, Missouri; Charlotte Baker of Cream Ridge, N.J.; Sarah and Darrell Reeves of Phila.,Pa; one sister, Sandra Brown of Cream Ridge,N.J.; and eight grandchildren, Bo, Ruben, Lorenzo, Adriano, Destiny, Jalisa, Nadera and Darrell. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 4, 2010 at 12pm at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, N.J. 08533. Burial will follow at the Cream Ridge Cemetery in Cream Ridge. Visitation will be Monday from 10am until the time of service.
