Doris E. Townsend, age 84, of Chesterfield died Sunday, January 23 at the Mount Holly Center in Mt. Holly. Born in Trenton, she was a resident of the Chambersburg section of Trenton before moving to Chesterfield 20 years ago. Doris worked as a telephone operator for the Broad Street Bank in Trenton and later as an operator for RWJ University Hospital in Hamilton. She also loved to go dancing with her husband Bart at the Chesterfield Inn. Doris was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Duffy. She is survived by her husband, Barclay ?Bart? Townsend of Chesterfield, two step-sons and their wives, Roy and Laurie Townsend of Florence and Bart and Lorraine Townsend of Chesterfield; two step-daughters, Gerri Soto of Carlisle, PA and Diane Rementer of Chesterfield; four step-grandchildren, Katie Soto, Bart Townsend, Lisa Brandeiski and Dr. Michelle Mullin; several step-great grandchildren and a niece, Doris Commiso. Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
