Obituary of Kenneth E. Johnson

Kenneth E. Johnson, 55, of Cream Ridge, NJ died peacefully at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, NJ on March 16, 2011, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Philadelphia, he grew up in Langhorne, PA. He was a longtime resident of Hamilton Twp. before moving to Cream Ridge in 1994.
Ken worked for US Steel in Fairless Hills, PA, for 30 years. He obtained his water treatment license from the state of New Jersey and was most recently employed by American Water Services in North Brunswick. He also served in the US Navy as a machinist mate and squad leader.
His wit and humor will be missed by all who knew him. He could get you laughing in no time, no matter what kind of mood you were in. His assessment of a situation was usually right on, and from an angle you never really considered. He truly was one of a kind. He had also gotten his S.C.U.B.A. certification at one time.
Ken was an avid book reader, cook, loved animals, birds and gardening.
He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Gwen and their 3 cats. After celebrating 25 years of marriage they traveled to the island of Grenada, Ken and Gwen traveled to many islands and enjoyed cruises.
He is predeceased by his loving sister, Sharon, 52, who died April 3, 2010; he is survived by his loving parents, Gordon Sr. and Kathleen Johnson; his brother Gordon Jr. and his wife Anne Piscitelli Johnson; a sister Teresa; a brother-in-law, James A. Urban and Sharon?s fianc?, George. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces, Taylor Johnson and Valerie Lindsey; his nephews, Brad, Wesley Johnson and Johnny Lindsey.
A funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Visitation will take place Monday from 12 Noon until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road in Wrightstown.
