Obituary of Philomena M. Malloy

Philomena M. Malloy, age 97, of Cookstown died Monday, June 18 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in Philadephia, she moved to New Jersey at an early age when her parents settled in Southampton and Birmingham. Upon her marriage to Joseph Malloy, she resided in Cookstown for 79 years.
Philomena retired in 1975 from General Motors in Trenton. She enjoyed her garden, canning and crocheting. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt and in her day was very active in the Rosary Altar Society and fund raising for the new church hall.
Philomena was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Malloy and two brothers, Anthony and Corradino Marcellino. She was a generous and loving mother to her four sons, Patrick Malloy (Norma), Donal Malloy (Patricia), Michael Malloy (Susan) and Neil Malloy (Julie) and a daughter, Eileen Farmer all of Cookstown. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and a sister, Antoinette Marcellino of Jackson.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Philomena will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ 08562 with Father Joseph Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. Calling hours will be on Friday evening, June 22 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com).
