Paul R. Ivins, age 65, of Newark, DE passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at home following a long illness with his loving family by his side. He was born in New Egypt, NJ on December 22, 1946 to the late Kenneth E. and Dorothy G. Ivins. Paul is survived by his wife Linda; a son Steven of Delaware; a daughter Susan of Washington, DC; a brother Kenneth C. Ivins; a nephew Scott K. Ivins both of New Egypt, NJ and his former sister-in-law, Fran Lake of Pierson, FL. Paul proudly served his country in the US Army along with a one year tour of duty in Viet Nam. He graduated from Goldey-Beacom College in Wilmington, DE with a degree in Finance. Paul retired from the State of Delaware with more than three decades of service. Paul graduated from Allentown (NJ) High School in the class of 1965. He is still remembered for his outstanding athletic abilities in football and baseball. He also excelled in golf and for his bowling average of 240. His fellow competitors always had a respect for him on the football field, baseball diamond and bowling alley. A viewing and visitation for Paul will be held on Friday evening, November 16, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). There will be an opportunity For family and friends to share their reflections of Paul at 8:00 PM. Burial will take place in Delaware. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations in his name be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494 (www.parkinson.org).
