Pemberton Twp. - Sonny L. Tennis, 56, of Browns Mills, NJ, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at home. Born in Clinton County, Pa., he has been a resident of Browns Mills since 1992. Sonny was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, also having served in the U.S. Army. During his tour of duty, he served in Grenada and Panama. After retiring, he served as a Senior Corrections Officer for the State of New Jersey at the A.C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility for 16 years and was a member of the PBA. He was known for his love of the Steelers and hunting and fishing. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (Pajank) Tennis of Browns Mills; one son Brandon Tennis, and a daughter, Amanda Tennis; a step-daughter Katelyn Joyce (Robert), 4 step-sons, Michael Sweeney (Heather), Brian Sweeney, Matthew, and William Sweeney (fiance, Beth); 3 grandchildren, Alyson, Andrew and Austin; 3 brothers William Lamey, John Lamey, Robert Tennisand one sister Tammy McDermit. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt, N.J. 08533. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Juliustown Road in Pemberton Twp. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. (www.tilghmanfh.com)
