Alan C. Newman, age 66, of Browns Mills died Wednesday, January 9 at home. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Browns Mills for the past 24 years and formerly lived in Roebling, Florence and New Egypt. Alan was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 6805 in Browns Mills, the American Legion Post 294 in Pemberton, the Elks Lodge 2457 in New Egypt and the Moose Lodge in Mt. Holly. Alan was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Son of the late Lewis and Mildred Newman, he is survived by his wife, Hope Newman; two sons Harry Newman and wife Kim of Browns Mills and Keith Newman of Tabernacle; three daughters, Barbara Newman and Nancy Newman both of Browns Mills and Doris Kay of Shamong; a brother, Robert Newman of Alpine, AL; two sisters, Ann Thomas of Virginia and Judy Hoffman of Fieldsboro; five grandchildren, Anisa, Harry Jr., Autumn, Lacey and Tanner and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 14 at 12:30 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Monday morning from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the funeral home.
