Joseph A. Amato of New Egypt, died on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. He was 82. He was born in Jersey City, where he was a lifelong resident before moving to New Egypt 10 years ago. Joe was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Joe was predeceased by his wife of 34 years, Carol Amato who died in 1994. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Amato Reed of New Egypt; a son, John Amato of Clifton who is a firefighter in Jersey City; 5 grandchildren, Christian, Aaron, Caroline, Hannah and Jacob; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Gene Miceli of Union and Mary and Frank Scerbo of Brick and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held om Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, N.J. 08533. A Graveside Service will be held 11am Friday, March 22, 2013, at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, N.J. 07031. (www.tilghmanfh.com)
