Orville T. “Orbie” Grant, Jr., age 75, of Cookstown died Thursday, August 1 at Deborah Hospital in Browns Mills. Born in Pt. Pleasant, NJ, he was a longtime Cookstown/New Egypt area resident except for 6 years he lived in Georgia.
Orbie was employed in sales for Sinclair Supply in Trenton for many years, then worked for Lenox in Cranbury and finally he was employed as a warehouse manager for Westpoint Stevens in Fairburn, Georgia. He was a member of the New Egypt Historical Society, attended the Cookstown United Methodist Church and he enjoyed and collected classic cars.
Orbie was predeceased by his parents, Orville T. Grant, Sr. and Catherine (Horner) Grant and a sister, Aileen Moore. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda (Hopkins) Grant; three daughters, Terriann Stintsman and husband Dave of Pemberton, Susan Grant of Burlington Twp. and Lisa Nichols of Corning, NY; two sisters, Carolyn Hand of Florida and Virginia Tweedie of New Egypt; two grandchildren, Patrick Nichols of Corning, NY and Kelli Goodwin of Browns Mills; two great grandchildren, Jaymi Shenenberger and Briyana Evans and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Orbie will be held on Monday, August 5, 12:00 Noon at the Cookstown United Methodist Church, 16 Main Street, Cookstown, NJ 08511 with Rev. Norman Eckley officiating. Calling hours will be from 10:00 AM until Noon at the church. Burial will be in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown.
