Doreen M. Upmanis, 84, of Wrightstown, passed away Wednesday September 24, 2014 at the Rose Garden Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Toms River. Born in Carlton, England, she moved to the US and lived in the New Egypt area in 1956, returning to England in 1978. In 1995, she came back to the New Egypt area. Doreen enjoyed quilting, sewing and knitting, she played bingo and loved to read. Wife of the late Walter Upmanis, Doreen is survived by her sons, David, of IL, and Christopher and his wife Teresa of No. Hanover Twp., NJ; several brothers and sisters, all of England; her grandson, Christopher Upmanis of IL and step grandson Andrew Dodd of New Egypt. Also surviving are her nieces, Cheryl Ellis of New Egypt, and Jackie Davis of Browns Mills. Funeral services for Doreen will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 12:00 noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com). Relatives and friends may attend visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in New Egypt.
