Howard W. “Stubby” Stevens, age 95, of Jacobstown passed away, Friday, July 3 at Aspen Hills Healthcare in Pemberton Twp. Born in Sykesville, he was a lifetime area resident.
Stubby was a farmer in his early years and also owned the Stevens Bus Company, transporting students at local schools. He also transported milk for the local dairy farms and ran his own dump trucks. Stubby was an active stock car driver for many years at the local tracks and was a member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge.
Stubby was predeceased by his wife, Pearl Stevens and a son, Michael Stevens. He is survived by a daughter, Pat Kent and husband Jim of New Lisbon; a son, Alan Stevens and wife Gale of Jacobstown; three grandchildren, Michael Kent, Alan Stevens and Lauren Stevens; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Corinne and Lindsay; and many friends.
Funeral services for Stubby will be held on Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
