Obituary of Treva M. Hendrickson

Treva M. Hendrickson, lifetime resident of New Egypt passed away Monday, November 2 at home in the same house she was born in 96 years ago. Treva was a member of the New Egypt United Methodist Church and the New Egypt Historical Society. Her father, Addison Moore, founded the New Egypt Press with his brother in 1898. In 1936 Addison along with Treva and her cousin traveled to all 48 states in Addison’s new travel trailer lettered on the side “Country Editor Going Places”. They met with all 48 Governors and the trip lasted 10 months and 3 days. Treva was predeceased by her parents, Addison and Laura (Compton) Moore; her husband, Allen F. Hendrickson, Jr. and her sister, Myrtle Horner. She is survived by a cousin, George F. Compton of New Egypt. Funeral services for Treva will be held on Wednesday, November 4 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh. com) with burial to follow in Jacobstown Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Treva’s memory may be made to the New Egypt United Methodist Church, 38 N. Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
