Raynor A. “Ray” D’Elena, age 70, of Mountain Rest, SC passed away Friday, December 4 at Williamsport Regional Medical Center in Williamsport, PA. Born in Burlington County, he was a resident of New Egypt before moving to Mountain Rest 20 years ago.
Ray was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving in the US Army from 1964 to 1967. He was a civil service worker at Fort Dix for many years and most recently was a driver for AmeriGas in Wrightstown. Ray was a member and past commander of the VFW Post in Mountain Rest. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and he like to spend time with his grandchildren.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth D’Elena, a sister, Kathleen D’Elena and by a son, Jason D’Elena. He is survived by a son, Ray D’Elena, Jr. and wife Paula of Walhalla, SC; a daughter Carrie Lamoot and significant other Joe Ricci of New Egypt; a brother, Brian D’Elena of Mountain Rest, SC; a sister, Mickey Steve and husband Jack of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Logan, Alyssa, Alexis and Brandon D’Elena; Christian and Rachel Welteroth and Taylor Ricci; a great grandson, Luke D’Elena; his former wife, Debbie Ruggerio of Cookstown and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Zenovia D’Elena of Pickens, SC.
Funeral services for Ray will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home.
