Albert R. Plungis Jr., age 78 of Jackson, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 29, 2024. Born in East Orange, he lived in Jackson for most of his life. Al owned and operated Al's Auto Repair in Jackson for many years. He enjoyed his work as an auto and truck mechanic as well as doing 24 hour towing. Al was a proud Navy Veteran, serving with the Seabees during Vietnam. He was an active member of the AmVets in Jackson, he was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed off road racing and restoring antique cars. Albert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Denise (Luehrs) Plungis; his daughter Tracie Plungis, his son Brian and daughter-in-law Jennifer Plungis; his grandson Randy Plungis; his sister Linda and her husband Kevin Kern, his brothers, Charlie and his wife Kathy Plungis, and Paul and his wife Danella Plungis; as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great great niece, a great great nephew, and a host of cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering from 2:00 PM until​​ 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 at Tilghman Funeral Home 52 Main Street New Egypt, NJ 08533. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment in the Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, with Navy Honors will take place on​​ Monday, May 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Albert to the charity of your choice.
